There couldn't have been much more at stake when Ayr and Partick met at Firhill on the last day of the 97-98 season: defeat would see the losers banished to the nether regions of the Scottish league... Unfortunately for the media pundits (Thistle apologists to a man), Ayr were fired up for this one, and produced arguably their best performance of the season. A rather farcical effort by Fergie got us off the mark; the nerves were settled somewhat by another classic from Djaffo, leaving Billy Findlay to find the perfect finish and perfect occasion to notch his first ever goal in the black and white. Don't cut it so fine next year, eh lads? | ||
